This album has dominated my new-music-listening for this weekend. It has just come out, and I’ve ordered a copy to be sent to my favorite jazz radio station, Jazz 93.5 FM (https://www.jazz935.org). Most of the album is relaxing enough that it might get some airplay. Some of the tracks, but only one or two, have enough dissonance to them that they won’t get played. I enjoy sending some music I like, their way.
I’ve begun learning the “Aria” from Bach’s Goldberg Variations, arranged for solo guitar by József Eötvös, whose performance of it on one of his albums is terrific. His sheet music is available on his website, which I didn’t visit till just now, but it doesn’t seem to have this book available: https://www.eotvos.net/gb/ . I have not been practicing classical guitar for years, so this is a welcome opportunity to get back into it with new music.
I continue to practice trumpet, but I have not been learning songs. I don’t practice frequently and so am not making a lot of progress. I can say that, one year into it, I am a lot better at it than I was the month I started, Jan. 2023!
I love the album. I spans free jazz-to-piano-trio space. I’ve been getting more interested in piano music, though I can’t play anything on the piano. For example, this album came to me through my looking for more Francesco Tristano Schlimé.

Scandale
Alice Sara Ott • Francesco Tristano Schlimé
And I was not aware of this until now! These are remixes of Francesco’s music. The first track is a remix of the first track on his On Early Music. Perhaps my favorite part of Francesco’s playing is that he will kick the piano to make a drum beat.
That’s all for now. I had to work this weekend, which is unusual and not bad. I hope you’re getting some sun and some exercise while listening to your favorite new music or old favorites.
