I saw the eclipse in 2017. It was my first time seeing totality. I had heard, vaguely according to my memory, that total eclipses were beautiful. I was prevailed upon to drive several hours to a location on the path of totality, and the experience of seeing that eclipse is something I hope never to forget.
I gathered with extended family to see this year’s eclipse, and we were on a lake. The day of the eclipse, clouds covered almost all of the sky, and we were lucky to see totality peek through a thin veil of cloud. It was not the clear-sky viewing conditions of our 2017 trip. That night and the day after, it poured for many hours. I realized we were lucky after all, that we didn’t get the storm on the day of the eclipse, Monday April 8th.
Jenuine Cello did two performances, and it was loads of fun. I recorded as much of both performances as I could, and the recording came out OK but with wind noise I had to try my best to filter out. Jen was personable and a skilled and creative cellist, as well as a talented kazoo, banana shaker, and melodica player ;-).
