I’ve been waiting for this day, the day Find Letter X, Kate Gentile’s latest album—a three-disc album!—was officially released. I’m not all the way through it. I’ll volunteer the observation that the drumming and synths on the second disc, titled Senselessness (tracks 16-29), are more violent and explosive than they are on the first disc, titled Iridian Alphabet (tracks 1-15). I haven’t listened to the third disc’s worth of digital tracks yet. So, this is kind of a teaser. And there are so many tracks to consider when writing about this music release, I’m going to have to break it up into multiple posts—though I haven’t always been as good about making as many ‘trilogy’ posts or whatever, as I could be. Disc two has the death-metal drumming I love. There is a lot of improvisation toward the free-jazz area of jazz, and there is a lot of playing in sync, so what would otherwise be likely to seem improvised is pre-planned, with drums and synths and saxes and everything hitting on the same notes.
Happy listening! :-)
